Farm Life…

Spring Recap at Holden Lake Farm & Garden + Summer’s in Full Swing!

We’ve rolled into summer with full hearts and even fuller baskets here at Holden Lake Farm & Garden. June has been buzzing with activity — from vibrant workshops to fresh farm produce and new ways to connect with nature and community.

Open All Summer Long!
We’re excited to say we’ll be open all summer, and this year, our garden center is staffed — so whether your plants need a refresh or you’re just looking to fill a few gaps in the garden, we’ve got you covered with perennials, fresh blooms, and friendly faces. Unlike last summer’s self-serve model, we’ll be here to help you pick out just the right plants to keep your garden looking its best through the heat.

🍓 Farm Fresh & Local Favourites
Our strawberries are bursting with flavour, and this year they’re even sweeter and juicier than ever. So good, in fact, that Mizu Real Fruit Ice Cream is now exclusively using our Island’s Own Strawberries in their limited edition strawberry ice cream! If you haven’t tried it yet, we’ve got a few pints available right at the farm — grab one while supplies last.

In addition to strawberries, our farm stand is also stocked with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers — all grown right here. Swing by for produce that’s local, fresh, and chemical-free.

🎉 Congratulations to Our Giveaway Winner!
A big thank you to everyone who entered our special giveaway this season — we had so much fun reading your comments and seeing the community come together in support. We’re thrilled to announce that Pamela Malone was the lucky winner of our Moss Hanging Basket + Mizu Gift Card + Swag bundle! Pamela, your support and enthusiasm mean the world to us — enjoy your prize and thank you for being part of the Holden Lake Farm & Garden family.

🎶 A Community That Grows Together
From May through June, our event calendar was jam-packed with workshops and gatherings: we learned about beneficial bats, composting worms, pest management with Brad, and had another round of our ever-popular “Ask Dirk Anything” session. Thanks to everyone who came out and shared their curiosity — it’s these events that build the knowledge and friendships that make Cedar, BC so special.

And if you stopped by on a weekend, you may have caught Flashback Freddy playing live music while you wandered through the nursery or picked up your plants. It’s been pure joy seeing our community come together — whether for music, gardening tips, or just to enjoy the view.

🏔️ Your Zen Spot in the Heart of Cedar
Located just around the corner from the iconic Crow and Gate Pub, our little piece of paradise offers more than plants. With dreamy mountain views, a landscape that evolves with each season, and a peaceful energy throughout the farm, it’s a space that invites you to slow down.

🌀 New! Summer Tai Chi Thursdays
Starting in July and continuing until the end of August, join us every Thursday from 2–3:30pm for outdoor Tai Chi under the tents by the parking lot. Led by Mid-Island Tai Chi, these donation-based sessions are beginner-friendly and focus on unlocking stiff joints, boosting circulation, and cultivating inner calm. No experience needed — just bring yourself and a willingness to breathe deeply.

🍁 Canada Day Hours + Red & White Planters
Yes, we’re open on Canada Day (July 1st) — and we’ve got red and white planters ready to dress up your patio in festive flair. Come grab one and celebrate in style.
