What’s New at Holden Lake Farm & Garden: From Greenhouse to Farm Stand and Beyond!
Since transitioning into full Farm Stand Mode, things have been blooming—literally and figuratively—at Holden Lake Farm & Garden!
Our greenhouse may be quieter these days, but there’s still plenty to explore and enjoy. We still have a charming selection of planters and hardy annuals like our ever-popular 6” Gerberas (yes, red is back in stock), purple Fountain Grass, sun-loving Echinacea, Gaillardia, Coreopsis, and of course, the fan-favourite Hot Lips Salvia.
In our perennial section, you’ll find a stunning array of lavenders, dianthus, ornamental grasses, day lilies, peonies, ground covers, shrubs, and even a few fruit trees to help you plan ahead for next season’s bounty.
🌱 The Farm Stand is in Full Swing!
We’ve been absolutely delighted by the response to our Farm Stand—thank you to everyone who’s stopped by! We’re currently offering:
- 🍓 Freshly picked Island’s Own strawberries (sweet and juicy!)
- 🥒 Crisp cucumbers (Long English and snacking varieties)
- 🫑 Bell peppers in two sizes
- 🍅 Four types of tomatoes—perfect for sandwiches, sauces, and snacking
- 🥕 Carrots, 🍇 Raspberries, 🫐 Blueberries, 🧅 Walla Walla onions, 🌽 Fresh corn—just to name a few of the delicious items currently available.
- 👉 And we’re adding more weekly, so every visit brings something new and seasonal to your table.
- 🌾 Everything is 100% BC grown—either fresh from our own farm or sourced from trusted local farms in our region.
And guess what? More produce is on the way. We’re adding garlic, blackberries, and more, sourced either from our own fields or from trusted local farms. Keep an eye out for fresh eggs, potatoes, seasonal fruit, and other delicious surprises coming soon!
🧚 Workshop Magic: Fairy Garden Wreaths
Last week, we hosted our latest Fairy Garden Wreath Workshop with Lost Arts Club, and it was pure magic. Over 30 attendees joined us under clear skies and a refreshing breeze to create one-of-a-kind moon wreaths, each with a personal touch of whimsy.
We were thrilled to welcome new friends from across Greater Nanaimo and Parksville—thank you for coming out! We’re excited to host one final workshop in September, where we’ll craft glow-in-the-dark garden planters (yes, complete with fairy paths!). Make sure to sign up via the Lost Arts Club’s dedicated registration site—spaces fill quickly!
